I was referred to Dr. Richman by my internist for recurrent sinusitis and recent onset tinnitus. When I saw him I was on a third antibiotic, felt crummy, and was losing weight.

He ordered a hearing test before seeing me (I would have requested one) and I was glad to learn I had no hearing loss.

He spent much time listening to my history and frustrations with both conditions. For the sinusitis, he recommended I use steroid and antihistamine sprays correctly (I had been mistakenly spraying my nostrils, not my nasal passages!) and a different antibiotic for the next occurrence. I improved quickly, as he predicted and was soon back to swimming. For the tinnitus, he spent much time talking about what helps reduce the ringing and helping me understand that I was still able to concentrate and sleep (most of the time). He helped me "suck it up" and move on. There is seldom a cure for tinnitus. When I believed I could live with the condition, I relaxed and, of course, the tinnitus became less intrusive. I can now tune it out much of the time.

Dr. Richman is an empathetic and kind man who is also a highly trained and competent practitioner. He has improved the quality of my life by teaching me how to better cope with both conditions. And he saved me an unnecessary referral to a neurologist for work up for the tinnitus.
